More Summer Fun

As summer comes to a close (sniff sniff), I am starting to look back on all the fun things we have done the past few months. Here are a few of them:

The kids had their first lemonade stand and Lily donated the money to Children's Hospital:)
We've had some great summertime storms resulting in beautiful rainbows (terrible picture)

Nicky so graciously got me Sugarland tickets for my birthday so Lily and I could go see one of our favorite bands:) It was on the field at Rimac Arena so everyone brought beach chairs and blankets for a comfy place to watch the show. We arrived early and found a perfect little spot. As we were waiting for things to get started a lady came and plopped down on our blanket and said to Lily, "Hi! I work for Sugarland and we are looking for some help tonight from someone your size". She went on to explain that Lily would be part of the show by getting to go backstage to meet Sugarland (eeekk!!), then go out on stage with Jennifer Nettles where Jennifer would hand her a flag that Lily would walk down into the audience with and then get to keep at the end of the show!! Well, my little lady wanted NOTHING to do with it as she has a fear of "all eyes on her" and I wasn't about to push her to do anything she wasn't comfortable with (even though inside I was dying!) Anyway, we had a wonderful time, the concert was amazing, and as we left Lily said she wishes she would have gone up on stage:) Easier said then done!

We paid our annual visit to the Ramona Fair with some sweet friends and made it out of there without incident:) Thanks for the pics Jessica!

More Silliness!

Princesses

We took the kids bowling for the first time...SO much fun! Lily could barely lift the 6 lb bowling ball let alone try to throw it down the lane but nevertheless they had a great time

We also went to the Del Mar Races for the first time thanks to our friend Ken who gave us free tickets and parking!

 Fun at the beach...

Until next time...

A Trip Up the Coast

For as long as I can remember my parents took our family on an annual trip up to the beach house in Cayucos. It means so much to me to now be able to make an annual trip with our kids. There is nothing more important or special than creating lifelong memories with family.
On our way up, we stopped at Mom and Dad's for lunch where we got to catch up with them and Kyle and Jennie for a few hours. We had a great trip that included many lazy hours on the beach, runs, bike rides, thrift store shopping, Jackson getting a Mohawk, Lily losing her second tooth (!), feeding the seals, eating way too much Salt Water Taffy, and so on. Can't wait to do it again next summer!

Summertime

The last day of 1st grade and preschool...although Jackson will be going back to preschool in the fall but hopefully starting ESK in January

We've had lots of fun days at the beach and pool so far this summer with friends and family...

Fun bike ride at the beach with the fam...

Our camping trip to Cuyamaca was a success and the kids are ready to go again!

A hike with Jack's high school basketball coach and our Dear Friend, Coach Al:

3rd and 4th of July festivities were a lot of fun. We spent the 3rd with The Tomkiel's, bbqing at their house then down to Barona for the fireworks show. On the 4th my sister and I ran the Scripps Ranch 10k then the fam and I went to the parade at Ramona Oaks. The rest of the day we spent swimming at Grandpa and Grandma's and bbqing in the evening:)

Can't wait to see what the rest of July and August have in store for us before we have to head back to the grind:)

Some Bits and Pieces...

The summer countdown has begun! Can't wait for the kiddos to be out of school next week! We have some fun mini-trips planned and I'm really looking forward to spending lots of family time together and not having to get out the door every-single-morning:)

Lily had "Childrens Night" at school recently and I would include pictures of her singing with her classmates but it was not at all organized and I couldn't squeeze through the mob of parents to get a picture of her. Don't even get me started! But, here's one of the four of us from that night:

We had SUCH a fun ditch day with our sweet friends, The LaTours:) Jessica and I had been planning it for awhile and it worked out so well. We planned to surprise the kids and take them out for a day of fun instead of going to school...Lily was getting so upset with me as we drove past her school but as soon as we pulled up to the bagel shop and she saw her friends, she got over it:) We took them to see Rio and it was such a fun special day, so glad we did it

The four of us volunteered at the Rock N Roll marathon over the weekend and we had a great day. Proceeds from the race benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and they helped us out last year when Jack was sick so we wanted to do something (however small it may be) to help out a great cause. The doctor in charge of our tent was so fun and he got the kids involved in helping out. They wrapped lots of knees with ice and ran to get water and band aids when the runners needed them. The kids were troopers considering we got them up at 4 am and they lasted over 8 hours down there! It feels good to give back, and we plan to go back next year:)

Lily lost her first tooth! Finally! This little guy had been hangin on for dear life for months! That night she said she thought she should leave something special for the tooth fairy since she would be leaving something for her. I told her that her tooth was special enough:) The tooth fairly left her $5! Can you believe that? Maybe it was so much because it was her first tooth...
